Chewing is a relaxing activity for any dog and using satisfying natural chews on a regular basis is a great routine. But when pups are teething, it also provides relief for those hurting gums and helps to control their natural urge to chew anything in sight (chairs, skirting boards, humans…)
My recommendation is to set a routine and have a regular time each day when you settle pup in their bed or crate with a chew, and leave then to have a chew plus a nap (remember over tired pups get extra bitey). Make sure they are left in peace and quiet in ‘chew time’ and keep other pets and any children away
The teething chews box includes:
- 1 Small yak bar, a great longer lasting chew. To be removed after 20-30 mins (if puppy is awake always reward when taking away their chew)
- 100gm bag of JR Natural Twists - a nice bag full of satisfying chews
- 4 Pieces of buffalo skin - a nice hard and tasty longer lasting chew
- 100gm bag of lamb muscle - an affordable chew to help keep costs down. I personally alternate between the more expensive and more cost effective chews to keep feeding natural affordable
- OPTIONAL Buffalo horn - a great long lasting teething horn, sifter then antlers
Option 2 includes a fun rope toy (designs will vary) which are also great teething (and teeth cleaning) toys (remove loose threads as toy is chewed)
All treats suitable from 3-4 months, supervise pups when feeding treats and ensure water remains available. Adjust meals if feeding higher quantities of treats when training to maintain a healthy balance
